A Resolution From the City of Fremont

Logo for City of FremontThe City of Fremont (California) passed the following resolution on May 23, 1995

WHEREAS, Kathryn Robson, in addition to qualifying as a California Certified Shorthand Reporter in 1981, has also been certified by the National Court Reporters Association as a Registered Professional Reporter; and

WHEREAS, Kathryn Robson, who co-founded Cheetah Systems with her husband Gary in 1987 has developed extensive experience in the new, but rapidly-developing field of realtime reporting and captioning; and

WHEREAS, Kathryn Robson has distinguished herself by being among the first 55 reporters in the nation to obtain the Certified Realtime Reporter credential conferred by the National Court Reporters Association and is currently among only 250 reporters in the nation who have demonstrated the extraordinary skill level required for such certification; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Robson is the primary captioner for the City of Fremont, the first city in the nation to realtime caption all of their City Council and School Board meetings on Cable TV; and

WHEREAS, in addition to a busy career captioning for the City, KRON TV news broadcasts, Oakland A’s baseball, emergency broadcasts, Easter Seals telethons, a live appearance by Heather Whitestone (the first deaf Miss America) and various meetings of and for deaf people, Kathy is the President of the Bay Area General Reporters Association and sits on the Court Reporting Department Advisory Committee for West Valley College in Saratoga

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fremont, that on behalf of the entire community they do hereby commend Kathy Robson for her outstanding achievements and the leadership she has provided in the field of communication and express sincere appreciation for the contribution she has and continues to make toward her community.

ADOPTED this 23rd day of May, 1995.
